About the project

A frantic isometric arena survival game developed for a 48-hour Game Jam under the theme “You really should not mix those.” Players control a lone drop of base paint navigating a world of strict chromatic segregation, using rapid color-shifting (The Chromatic Triangle) and social stealth camouflage to survive endless waves of hostile drops.

My role

I acted as the Technical Artist, establishing the entire 3D production workflow, designing the main character, and managing full engine integration within Unity.

Technical challenge

The ultimate challenge was executing highly complex technical art systems under a strict 2-day deadline. I built the character’s animation state machines and programmed a versatile, custom Unity shader that handled two core mechanics simultaneously: dynamic facial expressions (via texture animation triggers) and real-time color-swapping (allowing the mesh to transition instantly between Red, Blue, and Yellow in any dynamic order). I also developed shader-driven variable textures for environmental assets to keep the scene highly resource-efficient. By combining optimized low-poly meshes, clean retopology, and custom Unlit shaders, I delivered a vibrant “Vinyl Toy” aesthetic that guaranteed absolute web-browser fluidity, even when the procedural arena became crowded with enemies.
